Potatype

A typographic experiment with potatoes. This has been a personal experiment rather but have found uses for it in some other projects. As the process was rather lengthy I thought it would merit being documented in some sort of book.

Return visit and current thoughts.

Just a brief stop off. Recently have made some illustrator swatches from the inside of envelopes which i've been collecting for a few months. The image is an old piece (well December) of work with these applied. Thanks go out to Emanuela Allegra for giving me some patterns I hadn't come across. If anyone has any lying around i'd very much appreciate receiving them.

To finish off i've decided to jump ship (soonish) to wordpress. Apparently you can import your posts and there appears to be a lot more flexibility. One of the reasons is to use there twitter tool so I can feature the serif thiefs twits.

Zoo keeping

These are three images submitted for my Illustration 2 class book hopefully to be printed in the not too distant future. The theme is/was 'zoo keeping'. Bearing in mind the book is pencilled in to be A6 I thought it best to keep things simple and use the white page to my advantage.

Imagined Record project.

A project influenced by 'Meandering Mike', an imagined musical performer with fictional records and artwork. I created the character Rupert Gregory Genrehopper. Here are some examples:

'Geometric hectic' - an album based on all things maths and geometry.

'UnBEARable' - album based simply on bears.

The Empty Seven

Here are some ideas I had for some artwork for a friends band. They've got a nice organic sound so I thought i'd compliment this with a sea turtle. There good and getting better, definitely worth a listen.

Cybernetic organisms

This is a digitalised version of 'Robot type'. I'm fairly pleased with it so far but going to come back to it a bit later to tighten it up a bit. It took a while and was quite tedious but totally worth it as it can now be recycled and manipulated for future fun.

In with the new

It's been a while since my last post due to a technical difficulty. The hard drive on my macbook burnt out thus meaning i've lost a lot of old work. However, i'm not feeling too upset about it because it only provides the chance to forget about some of the 'rubbish' work from the past.

'Robot Type' - a piece of work I started a few weeks ago but keep coming back to. I have enjoyed combining type with my illustrative powers. Might keep this theme running, 'organic type' would be next.

Dream dictionary - the latest brief for illustration is based on Tim Etchell's modern dream dictionary. The final outcome being an A1 print featuring 8 of the entries. I've created the above book to include development and to hopefully do a page on for each. I like making books.
